Training

Children are taken from 3 years and are initially trained in ballet and tap dancing to encourage, co ordination, posture, basic technique, discipline and enjoyment of dance. They follow a structured syllabus- I.D.T.A and R.A.D, and are closely assessed to ensure that the class suits their needs.

From the age of 5 years children progress to preparatory level where they continue to develop their skills in ballet and tap, further developing their technique and range of steps and also progressing to their first dance exam, which builds on their confidence and gives them a sense of achievement.

Dance School Pupils

They can also take disco dancing from this age which encourages flexibility, presentation, choreography skills and technique. Medal tests can be taken in disco dancing.

The School also offers modern jazz from 7/8 years which is excellent for developing strength, flexibility and a range of modern jazz steps, spacial awareness and style. We also have a contemporary dance class for pupils aged 9 years upwards.

Pupils are taken up to professional level and the School also trains it’s own teachers in internationally recognised teaching qualifications with the International Dance Teachers Association.

Pupils can also join The Stepping Out Performing Arts School (www.steppingoutarts.co.uk), which Miss Percival runs from 4 years to 18 years, providing training in drama, singing and dancing, and Performance experience in their annual show - previous productions inclued Annie, Godspell, Honk, The Wizard of Oz and Bugsy Malone..
